About Bernd Straehle

I grew up in Germany and studied in Switzerland, where I obtained a doctorate degree in information management. A research scholarship brought me over to California, and eventually I settled down in the coastal hills of Orange County with my lovely wife and our daughter. Professionally I am into software development with interest in information security.

Back in Europe it was common to commute by bike on a daily basis. After several years off the bike, I rediscovered cycling via triathlon. These days I am riding primarily for fitness and fun, usually with the San Clemente Renegades, some friends, or solo. I started TourOfCalifornia.org to share my passion about cycling, hoping to provide information and inspiration.
