Solvang Spring Double Century - Description:
Solvang, the «Danish Capital of America», is one of the most popular cycling regions in California. The Solvang Spring Double Century is one of two doubles in the area (the less challenging one). The other event is held in fall.
On the way north to Morro Bay, the route passes through Foxen Canyon and visits some small towns and the city of San Luis Obispo. After a checkpoint in front of Morro Rock, it returns south to Los Alamos, visiting some more small towns along the way.
Drum Canyon, a narrow and winding road in fair condition presents the most significant climb of the day. After a bumpy descent, the route leads pretty much straight back into Solvang.

Solvang Spring Double Century - Personal Notes:
Sandra and Lisa came along for a ride for the first time.
Saturday was a perfect day and a perfect ride. After a relatively slow start, I rode some good pacelines (thanks to 500 riders), and was able to finish strong. Along the way, I met several people from previous rides plus a few new riders, and I had a great time.
Sunday we relaxed and went wine tasting in Ballard Canyon.
