The San Juan Hut System offers hut-to-hut mountain bike and backcountry adventures. The Telluride to Moab route leads from Telluride in the Colorado Rocky Mountains through the alpine tundra of the San Juan and La Sal Mountains to the canyon country and desert slickrock of Moab. Almost all on dirt roads or singletrack alternates.

Day 1 starts at the mountain station of the gondola. Several singletrack trails lead down to the Mountain Village and Telluride. The route then follows Airport Road and Last Dollar Road all the way to Last Dollar Hut, at 11,000 feet the highest point of the ride.

Day 2 starts at Last Dollar Hut and descends down Last Dollar Road to Highway 62. 62X Road leads to Dave Wood Road, which continues to lead all the way to Spring Creek Hut.

Day 3 starts at Sprink Creek Hut and follows Divide Road all the way to Columbine Hut. Along the route are several singletrack alternates.

Day 4 starts at Columbine Hut and follows Divide Road all the way to Graham Ranch Hut. Graham Ranch offers hot showers.

Day 5 starts at Graham Ranch Hut and follows Uranium Road to Niche Road. Ute Creek Trail is an awesome singletrack alternate. Niche Road descends down to Highway 141, which leads into the town of Gateway and to Gateway Hut.

Day 6 starts at Gateway Hut and ascends up John Brown Canyon, passing the Colorado/Utah state line. The route continues to follow Gateway Road all the way to La Sal Hut.

Day 7 starts at La Sal Hut and descends down Castle Valley Road, passing dinosaur tracks. The route then follows La Sal Mountain Road (paved), which leads up to Kokopelli Trail. Kokopelli Trail descends down to Sand Flats Road, which leads all the way to Moab.
