Bernd Straehle

I grew up in Germany, studied in Germany, Switzerland, and California, and have lived and worked here since. These days, I split my time between California and Mexico.

Cycling has always been part of my life. I commuted by bike in Europe, took up triathlon for fitness, and fell in love with road cycling. What started as a way to stay active opened a door to explore my new home.

I was drawn to long rides, mountain climbs, and backcountry roads, dirt, and gravel. Over time, my interest in the outdoors led to mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, climbing, and mountaineering.

TourOfCalifornia.org grew from this passion for cycling and adventure. I hope you find information and inspiration.
